I know the journey I am taking is not for everyone. I have done things I never thought I would find myself saying, doing or experiencing. Things I likely once would have judged others for or misunderstood their intensions. Through that, I have found myself also stepping back and appreciating more of what I don't understand, opened my mind to different perspectives no matter how challenging it is to absorb and hoping it makes me a better person on the other side.
UNDERSTAND - is a word I use less and less, except for if I truly do UNDERSTAND. When someone is going through a hard time, unless I have experienced the same situation, I can only empathize, but never truly UNDERSTAND what that person is going through. I can support and be there in the ways that I know how, but cannot fully UNDERSTAND their pain, their joy, their grief, their anger; unless I have walked the same path.
