One thing I always ALWAYS try to do is give them a little bit of exposure to where in the world I am. Because I believe one of the greatest gifts you can give children is the gift of curiosity.
While I will be shocked if any of my parents, cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents and siblings will venture 10,000 miles to see my world, I want my nieces and nephews to come. I want them always wondering about where in the world I am, what I am doing and what are the people like and how the food tastes. I want them to be curious and understand that people outside the US live differently, have different lifestyles and beliefs. I want them to be okay with asking questions and wanting to understand that different is a beautiful thing.
I want them to be CURIOUS.
When we look at what we have accomplished in our lives and what we have done for society to help make it better. I hope one day I can say I succeeded in my goal. I hope I can say I helped nurture the curiosity which helps people understand one another better. I hope I can give that gift to my family and if not my generation and older, but to the little ones who will be impacted the most ten, twenty years from now. That to me would be my greatest accomplishment in life.
