THE QUEST FROM WITHIN

Never have I felt that needed someone in my life to feel like I was whole, however, there has always seemed to be someone there.  It wasn't until the past couple years where I spent a lot of time with myself and started to discover the power within myself which made me feel rooted.  While I am still working on the total connection between mind and body to feel whole, I can attest to the empowerment and wholeness I am feeling for finding my own roots I have grown and nurtured myself.

I started reading work from Rupi Kaur a couple years ago and if you have never read any of her work, I would highly recommend reading her poetry - Milk and Honey, The Sun and her flowers

YOUR HEALTH IS A LIFELONG INVESTMENT

Life is the most precious gift we are ever given. Our bodies, our mind, our health is essential to maintain to sustain a good quality of life. So why is it that people often find it inconvenient to invest in our health? How is it we can take a blind eye to what we put in our bodies? How is it that we find it easy to have poor excuses to why we can't invest or put
effort and time in our health, yet turn around and not be able to comprehend how illness and injury has become a regular part of daily life?
It doesn't take much to improve your quality of life. You don't need a gym membership or money to make healthy choices and put into action which can positively affect your life for years to come. All it really takes is a little bit of personal responsibility.

Check out Kimberly's TEDxNUV Talk about how simple it is to invest in your health and why it is so important.

perfect

“If you worked more on your lower abs, then your stomach would be perfect.” I was told after someone saw this photo.

PERFECT... Well, I am Perfectly comfortable with my body. I am perfectly happy with the years and years of hard work and maintenance I have put into it. I am perfectly comfortable to walk across a beach in a bikini and run down a street in a sports bra. My body is absolutely perfect to ME and that’s what matters. I don’t put in effort to be “perfect” in someone else’s eye. I don’t need anyone else telling what I need to do to make my body “perfect”.

I am perfectly happy in my own skin. I know I have thick enough skin to blow off comments like this, but it still bothers me. It bothers me because of how often comments like this are made to young women by men, media, peers and even parents which lead them to spending a lifetime seeking a false sense of perfection.

While I have been complimented for my fitness over the years, I have been criticized almost just as much. I write this not for validation. I don't need it. I am someone who loves giving compliments to those who deserve it, to give an honest opinion when asked and to speak up when I feel something is wrong. I write this because if one person thinks twice about being more mindful about what they are saying and the affect they have, if one person rethinks what 'perfect' means to oneself and not society, the world could become a little better.

When I step on board to push or promote a product or message, it is always because I believe in it 100%. I have always been that way. Integrity is something my father taught me at a young age. So when I say this video is something you MUST watch...I mean it. Not because I have been asked to, but because I have sat and watched it over and over, listening and hanging on to every word said in this manifesto. I get it.
It sings to my heart and soul as Miki's words find a way to express the world we live in today. I find a connection with what she says in every way as I battle through this life every day. I know for me, I am one of the few who gets to live life authentically.  It comes at a huge cost for me because I live in a country where living a life which is true to yourself is unheard. The society is so critical of someone using their voice, following their dream or heart that on a daily basis I am constantly being told NOT TO BE ME.
After having the priviledge of getting a sneak peak at the book...I bought 5. What can I say, it's powerful.
Just watch, it's worth it, you will see...

In the middle of writing this, I had to pause to deal with a little bit of work, which prompted me to write this post on Facebook, which I feel I should share with you because it relates to this very topic...

Amazing how I speak up for women's sports here, I end up getting an endless number of men say to me comments like "Chill. Don't take it so seriously. It's no big deal. Don't be a leader, let someone else do it. It is not worth stressing yourself. No one pays that much attention."
Let me tell you - it is worth it. It is a big deal. Someone needs to. You are saying all the wrong things to a girl who lived through the era of Title 9 and having to listen to loads of American men say the same bullshit things to women who pushed for the same thing there a couple decades ago.
On the backside - I love and appreciate the women who have given their support and have backed me on this.
Sports at all levels is an essential part to helping women and men, girls and boys develop physical skills, discipline, learning how to communicate and work together, to help one another and build a community together.
Sports for women and men are important at all ages. When children see their mothers and fathers playing and doing something they loved as a kid, it leaves an ever-lasting impact.
You will not silence me on this matter.

Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans. ~John Lennon

A new day, a new year. Why do we treat the two differently? Time is time. Carpe diem. Don't wait for tomorrow. I make no resolutions because I feel that if I want to start something new, I shouldn't have to wait for a new year to come.
